Christmas Snowfall 1.7 is a lightweight Joomla site module that overlays a festive snowfall on your pages. Version 1.7 is a full rebuild: vanilla JavaScript (no jQuery), eleven SVG flake shapes, ready-made presets, colour controls, and mobile-friendly density.

After purchase, download mod_christmas_snowfall_1.7.zip from your store account or the download email.

Install

1. Log in to the Joomla administrator
2. Go to System > Install > Extensions
3. Upload mod_christmas_snowfall_1.7.zip
4. Go to Content > Site Modules > New
5. Select Christmas Snowfall
6. Pick a flake preset, assign the module to All pages (or selected menus), then publish
7. Clear Joomla and browser caches

If you are upgrading from 1.6 or earlier, re-check module params — the jQuery snowfall library and Round Flakes-only options are replaced by Effect, Motion, and Display settings.

Requirements

• Joomla 4, 5, or 6
• PHP 8.1 or newer recommended

Use the Effect Settings tab to choose how the storm looks.

• Flake Preset - Classic Snow, Festive Mix, Golden Stars, Soft Flurry, Midnight Sparkle, Candy Wonderland, or Custom Mix
• Custom Flake Shapes - when Custom Mix is selected: Snowflake, Crystal, Star, Sparkle, Tree, Gift, Candy Cane, Ornament, Holly, Heart, Round Dot
• Primary / Secondary Colour - tint the flakes; secondary mixes a second colour into the storm
• Soft Shadow, Glow, Rotate Flakes, and Opacity

Use the Motion Settings tab to control density and fall behaviour.

• Flake Count - how many flakes fall at once
• Minimum / Maximum Size - flake size range in pixels
• Minimum / Maximum Speed - fall speed range
• Wind Drift - negative drifts left, positive drifts right

Tip: Soft Flurry looks best with a lower count and slower speeds.

• Layer Z-Index - stack the overlay above or below other UI
• Mobile Density Scale - reduce flake count on smaller screens for smoother performance
• Respect Reduced Motion - hide the effect when the visitor prefers less motion
• Pause When Tab Hidden - stop the animation while the browser tab is in the background

  • Yes — try Soft Flurry or Golden Stars for non-Christmas looks, or unpublish the module when the season ends.
