Simple Facebook Like is a Joomla module that enables users to easily integrate Facebook Like buttons into their Joomla websites. This documentation covers the installation, configuration, and usage of the Simple Facebook Like module.

Downloading the Extension

Email: After you purchase the extension from our store, you will receive an email containing a link to download the extension.

Store: Alternatively, you can download the extension from the "Downloads" section in our store. If you are a new user, you need to create an account using the same email address you used for the purchase.

Unzipping the Package

Use any file unzipper tool or WinRAR to unzip the SimpleFacebookLike_UNZIP.zip package. After unzipping, you will find the following contents:

• mod_fblike_X.x.zip: This is the installation file compatible with Joomla 4.x, 5.x, and 6.x.
• ReadMe.txt: Contains vital information about the current version of the extension.

Installing the Extension

To install the extension, log in to the backend of your Joomla website.

• For Joomla 4, 5 & 6: Navigate to System > Install > Extensions (or Extensions > Manage > Install). Click on the "Upload Package File" tab. Click "Browse" to select the installation file (mod_fblike_X.x.zip), then click "Upload and Install."

A success message will be displayed once the installation is complete.

After installation, the module needs to be configured to suit your requirements. Access the module settings by navigating to Extensions > Modules, and find Simple Facebook Like in the list.

Basic Settings

• Page URL: Select the URL of the page.
  • Current Page: Uses the current page URL.
  • Custom URL: Allows you to specify a custom URL to like.
• Custom URL to Like: Enter the complete URL to like (shown only if Page URL is set to Custom URL). Example: https://example.com
• Layout Style: Choose the layout style of the button.
  • Options include: Standard, Button, Button Count, and Box Count.
• Action Type: Select the action to be taken.
  • Options are: Like or Recommend.
• Button Size: Select the size of the button.
  • Options are: Large or Small.
• Show Share Button: Show or hide the share button.
  • Options are: Show or Hide.

Advanced Settings

• Width (px): Specify the width of the button area in pixels (default is 500).
• Facebook App ID: Optional. Enter your Facebook App ID for better analytics and customization.
• Language/Locale: Select the language for Facebook buttons. Choose from 10+ languages or set to Auto-detect from Joomla to automatically use your site's language.
• Module Class Suffix: Enter your desired module suffix for custom CSS styling (optional).

Once configured, assign the module to a position on your Joomla template and publish it. The Simple Facebook Like module will display the Facebook Like and Share buttons based on your settings, allowing users to like or share your content easily.

• How do I specify a custom URL to like?

  • Set the Page URL option to Custom URL and enter the desired URL in the Custom URL to Like field.

• How can I hide the share button?

  • Set the Show Share Button option to Hide in the Basic Settings tab.

• Can I change the width of the like button?

  • Yes, adjust the Width (px) setting under Advanced Settings.

• How do I change the button size?

  • Set the Button Size option to Large or Small under Basic Settings.

• What actions can users take with this module?

  • Users can either Like or Recommend the content, based on the Action Type setting.

• Do I need a Facebook App ID?

  • No, the Facebook App ID is optional. The module works without it, but providing an App ID enables better analytics and advanced features.

• How does the language auto-detection work?

  • When set to Auto-detect from Joomla, the module automatically uses your Joomla site's language setting to display the Facebook button in the appropriate language.

• Button Not Displaying: Ensure the module is assigned to a visible template position and published. Also check that the module is enabled and the position is active in your template.
• Incorrect URL: Verify the Page URL settings and ensure the URL is correctly entered with the full protocol (https://).
• Layout Issues: Check the Layout Style settings and ensure the chosen style is supported. Try different layout options to see which works best for your design.
• Facebook SDK Not Loading: Check your internet connection and ensure Facebook's servers are accessible. The module includes error handling for SDK loading failures.
• Button Not Responding: Clear your browser cache and ensure JavaScript is enabled. Check browser console for any JavaScript errors.
• Language Not Displaying Correctly: Verify your Joomla language settings and ensure the selected locale is supported by Facebook. You can manually select a language in Advanced Settings if needed.

Simple Facebook Like includes an integrated update server to keep your extension up-to-date with the latest features and improvements. The module supports automatic updates through Joomla's update system.

Automatic Updates

The module is configured with an update server that allows you to receive automatic updates directly through Joomla's Extension Manager. When a new version is available, you'll be notified in the Joomla backend.

Manual Updates

If automatic updates are not working, you can manually update the module by:

1. Downloading the latest version from the store
2. Going to System > Install > Extensions
3. Uploading and installing the new version (this will automatically update the existing installation)

Note: The module now supports Joomla 4, 5, and 6. Support for Joomla 3.x has been discontinued as of version 1.6.
