Easy Fixed Footer 1.6 is a site module for Joomla 4, 5, and 6 that pins one or more published modules in a fixed bottom bar.

Version 1.6 continues the modern rebuild: service provider, dispatcher, namespaces, Web Asset Manager assets, safer module rendering, scroll display modes, page spacer, and a stable first-paint fixed bar that moves to document.body immediately.

Install

1. Download mod_fixed_footer_1.6.0.zip.
2. Open System > Install > Extensions.
3. Upload and install the module.
4. Open Content > Site Modules, create an Easy Fixed Footer module, add content modules, assign pages, and publish.
5. Clear Joomla and browser cache.

• Add Module: repeatable rows; each row picks a published site module. Easy Fixed Footer cannot select itself.

• Footer Background Colour (default: #333333): hex or rgba
• Footer Padding (default: 12px 0): CSS length values only
• Footer Margin (default: 0): CSS length values only

Invalid colour or length values fall back to safe defaults.

Critical fixed positioning (position: fixed, bottom, width, z-index) is applied as inline styles so the bar is pinned before stylesheet CSS finishes loading.

• Layout: alternate module layout when overrides exist
• Module Class Suffix: extra CSS classes on the footer root
• Additional CSS: optional rules scoped to #jx-ffooter-{moduleId}. Unsafe patterns such as script tags and expression() are stripped.

After render, the footer and spacer are moved to document.body. That avoids transformed or overflow parents in the template that would otherwise make position: fixed behave like a relative box inside the module position.

• Footer is empty

  • Confirm Add Module rows point to published, accessible site modules within their publish window.

• Footer never appears

  • Check Display Mode and Scroll Offset. For after-scroll or near-bottom, scroll the page. Confirm Hide On is not matching your current device width.

• Content sits under the bar

  • Enable Add Page Spacer and clear cache.

• Footer flashes in the module area then jumps to the bottom

  • Upgrade to 1.6.0 or later. That release applies fixed positioning inline and moves the bar to document.body immediately. Clear Joomla and browser cache after upgrade.

• Old assets remain

  • Clear Joomla and browser cache. Confirm assets load as mod_fixed_footer.css?1.6.0 and mod_fixed_footer.js?1.6.0.

• Which Joomla versions are supported?

  • Joomla 4, 5, and 6. PHP 8.1 or later is recommended.

• Can I place several modules in one footer?

  • Yes. Use Add Module rows and control layout with Content Layout, Wrap, and Alignment.

• Can the footer include itself?

  • No. Easy Fixed Footer is excluded from the module picker and from renderable candidates.

• Why does the footer leave the module position?

  • By design in 1.6. The bar is relocated to document.body so fixed positioning works reliably across templates.
