Introduction
Coda Slider 2.8 is a modern Joomla site module that turns articles or custom slides into a tabbed content panel. Visitors pick a story from the navigation, then read the panel with optional images, excerpt, and read-more link.
Version 2.8 is a full rebuild: vanilla JavaScript (no jQuery / Liquid Slider), Web Asset Manager assets, five themes, flexible tab placement, and slide or fade transitions.
Key highlights:
- Joomla 4, 5 & 6 compatible
- Articles or custom HTML slides
- Themes: Modern, Editorial, Pill, Underline, Dark
- Nav on top, bottom, or left
- Slide or fade panel transitions
- Arrows, keyboard, swipe, and optional autoplay
- Fully responsive — tabs wrap, left nav stacks on phones
Installation
Download
After purchase, download mod_codaslider_2.8.zip from your store account or the download email.
Install
- Log in to the Joomla administrator
- Go to System > Install > Extensions
- Upload
mod_codaslider_2.8.zip
- Go to Content > Site Modules > New
- Select Coda Slider
- Choose articles or custom slides, pick a theme, then assign the module
- Clear Joomla and browser caches
If you are upgrading from 2.7 or earlier, re-check module params — legacy Liquid Slider / Fancybox-era styling fields are replaced by Display and Motion settings.
Requirements
- Joomla 4, 5, or 6
- PHP 8.1 or newer recommended
- Articles in
com_content (when using the article source)
Content Settings
Open your Coda Slider module and use the Content Settings tab.
- Content Source - Joomla Articles or Custom Slides
- Categories - select one or more article categories
- Order Results - published, created, modified, ordering, hits, or random
- Order Direction - ascending or descending
- Number of Articles - how many panels to load (default 5)
- Featured Articles - Show, Only, or Hide
- Filter by Tags - optional tag filter
- Exclude Current Article - hide the article being viewed
- Trigger Plugin Events - run content plugins on intro text
- Custom Slides - repeatable title + editor panels when source is Custom Slides
Tip: Pair article intro images with a short excerpt length for clean panels.
Motion Settings
Use the Motion Settings tab for panel transitions.
- Panel Transition - Slide or Fade
- Autoplay - advance panels automatically
- Autoplay Delay - pause between panels in milliseconds
- Transition Speed - animation duration in milliseconds
- Pause on Hover - stop while the pointer is over the module
- Prev / Next Controls - arrow buttons beside the panel
Keyboard arrows work when the module is focused. Touch swipe works on the panel. On phones, arrows move below the panel for easier tapping, tabs wrap so labels stay visible, and left-side navigation stacks above the panel.
