Easy Share 2.0 is a JoomlaX package that puts share buttons where visitors actually click: a collapsible sidebar, inline article bars, a mobile bottom bar, an optional fly-in panel, and a module. Native device share, copy link, and print are included. No Facebook or X widgets, and no tracker SDKs.

The package installs three extensions:

• Content - Easy Share: inline buttons in articles, plus {easyshare} / {easy_share} shortcodes.
• System - Easy Share: floating sidebar, mobile bar, and fly-in. Runs on assigned pages, not only articles.
• Module - Easy Share: the same button engine in any module position, including a fixed dock with menu assignment.

Before you install

Step 1: Download

After purchase, download EasyShare_UNZIP.zip from your email or the Downloads section. Use the same email address you used when purchasing.

Step 2: Unzip on your computer

1. Extract EasyShare_UNZIP.zip.
2. Inside you should see:
   • pkg_easyshare_2.0.0.zip (install this one)
   • ReadMe.txt

Step 3: Install in Joomla

1. System > Install > Extensions
2. Upload pkg_easyshare_2.0.0.zip
3. System > Maintenance > Clear Cache

What the package installs

• Content - Easy Share
• System - Easy Share
• Module - Easy Share

The installer enables the plugins. Publish the module only if you want a bar in a module position.

If you already used Easy Share Buttons 1.x, this package upgrades the content plugin in place. Shortcodes {easy_share} and {share} still work.

1. Confirm System > Plugins shows Content - Easy Share and System - Easy Share as Enabled.
2. Open System - Easy Share. Leave Sidebar and Mobile Bar on for a typical site.
3. On the Sidebar tab, set screen side (Left or Right) and the network list, for example facebook,x,linkedin,email.
4. Open Content - Easy Share. Set Position to After article (or None if you only want shortcodes).
5. If Helix or another template also prints share icons, turn that template option off so you do not get two bars.
6. Clear cache. Open an article logged out and confirm the sidebar and the inline row.
7. Resize the browser below 768px (or your breakpoint) and confirm the mobile bar.

Fly-in is off by default. Turn it on only after you want a delayed share or follow panel.

These positions live on System - Easy Share.

Assignment

• Pages: com_content only (default) or all HTML pages
• Content views: default article. Add featured,category if you want bars on blogs
• Show on homepage / Exclude menu IDs

Sidebar

• Enable, left or right, theme, icon-only display, shape, size
• Collapse control: visitors can hide the rail. Optional start collapsed. Choice is remembered in the browser
• Hide when inline is visible: the rail steps aside while the in-article row is on screen

Mobile bar

• Shows below the breakpoint (default 768px). The sidebar hides at the same time
• Combine after: extra networks open in a More dialog
• Uses safe-area padding on notched phones

Offsets

On Advanced, set edge, top, and bottom offsets so the bars clear sticky headers and cookie banners.

The fly-in is a compact panel, not a lead form. Enable it on System - Easy Share > Fly-in.

• Mode: Share this page, or Follow profile links
• Show after seconds and/or scroll percent. Near page bottom is optional
• Stay closed: after the visitor closes it, hide for N hours (stored in the browser)

Follow URLs are set on the Follow URLs tab: Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Telegram, WhatsApp, RSS. Empty URLs are skipped.

On small screens the fly-in stays hidden while the mobile bar is active.

Open System > Plugins > Content - Easy Share for in-article output.

General

• Enable (default: Yes)
• Position: Before, After, Before and after, or None (shortcode only)
• Group label / Show label

Layout

• Layout: Inline, Stacked, Compact, Cards, Floating (Floating is skipped when the system sidebar is on, so you do not get two rails)
• Theme: Brand filled, Brand soft, Brand outline, Classic, Soft, Bold, Minimal, Glass, Neutral, Inverse
• Display, shape, size, hover, combine after

Filters

Limit or exclude categories and articles with the Joomla pickers. Leave empty for no restriction.

When a shortcode is present, that location wins and automatic insert is skipped for the same article body.

Site > Modules > New > Easy Share.

• Mode: Share this page, or Follow profile links
• Layout: Inline, Stacked, Compact, Cards, or Fixed dock
• Dock position: left, right, or bottom. When dock is used, you can disable the system sidebar on those pages so two rails do not overlap
• Networks: comma-separated keys, same list as the system plugin

Use Joomla menu assignment to show the module only on chosen pages. Follow mode reuses System - Easy Share follow URLs when the module fields are empty.

Place {easyshare}, {easy_share}, or {share} where the buttons should appear. Square tags such as [easyshare] are also accepted.

Common attributes: layout, theme, display, shape, size, label, showlabel, networks, newtab, radius, gap, hover, hide.

hide="1" suppresses automatic inline output on that article. It does not turn off the system sidebar. Exclude the menu item in System - Easy Share if you need a page with no floating bars.

Share actions (comma-separated keys):

native, x (alias twitter), facebook, linkedin, threads, bluesky, whatsapp, telegram, pinterest, reddit, email, copy, print.

Pinterest is omitted when the page has no image, unless you turn on Always show Pinterest.

Custom networks (System plugin Advanced), one per line:

Placeholders: {url}, {title}, {text}, {image}.

UTM

Optional. Appended on the server. utm_content is the bar position: sidebar, inline, flyin, mobile, module, shortcode.

Click stats

System - Easy Share > Advanced > First-party click stats. Off by default. Counts button clicks on your site only. It does not fetch Facebook or X totals.

• No inline buttons

  • Enable Content - Easy Share. Confirm Position is not None unless you use a shortcode. Check Filters. Clear cache.

• No sidebar

  • Enable System - Easy Share and Sidebar. Confirm Assignment matches the page (com_content article by default). Check Exclude menu IDs. A published dock module can disable the system sidebar on purpose.

• Two share rows in the article

  • Remove the shortcode, or set Position to None. Also turn off Helix or template share icons.

• Sidebar and template share both show

  • Disable the template social share layout. Easy Share already draws the rail.

• Native share does nothing

  • The browser must support navigator.share (common on phones). Desktop browsers may show the unavailable toast.

• Copy fails

  • Some browsers require HTTPS. The plugin also tries a temporary textarea fallback.

• Mobile bar missing

  • Enable Mobile bar. Resize below the breakpoint. Confirm you are not looking at a print or component-only view.

• Follow buttons missing

  • Fly-in or module mode must be Follow, and the matching Follow URL fields must not be empty.
