Easy YouTube Feed 1.0 is a Joomla site module that shows videos from a YouTube channel or playlist. Paste a YouTube Data API v3 key, choose a source, pick a layout, and publish. Visitors can search, filter, switch feed tabs, and load more videos without leaving your site.

Before you install

• Joomla: 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x
• PHP: 8.1 or newer with cURL or allow_url_fopen for HTTPS
• YouTube Data API v3 key: required. Create in Google Cloud Console.
• Access: Super User or administrator to install modules and paste the API key

API key restrictions

• Restrict by server IP address, not HTTP referrers
• Restrict APIs to YouTube Data API v3 only
• Never publish the key in HTML, JavaScript, Git, or screenshots

Step 1: Download

After purchase, download EasyYoutubeFeed_UNZIP.zip from your email or the Downloads section.

Step 2: Unzip on your computer

1. Extract EasyYoutubeFeed_UNZIP.zip.
2. Inside you should see:
   • mod_easyyoutubefeed_1.0.0.zip (install this one)
   • ReadMe.txt

Step 3: Install in Joomla

1. System > Install > Extensions
2. Upload mod_easyyoutubefeed_1.0.0.zip
3. System > Maintenance > Clear Cache

Step 4: Create the module

1. Content > Site Modules > New
2. Choose Easy YouTube Feed
3. Paste your API key, channel or playlist, and count
4. Assign a position and publish

1. Open Google Cloud Console and create or select a project.
2. Go to APIs and Services > Library. Search for YouTube Data API v3 and click Enable.
3. Go to APIs and Services > Credentials. Click Create credentials > API key.
4. Click Edit API key:
   • Application restrictions: IP addresses. Add your server IPv4 and IPv6.
   • API restrictions: Restrict key. Select YouTube Data API v3 only.
5. Paste the key into YouTube Data API v3 key in the module options.
6. Raise API cache (minutes) (default 45) if repeat views approach your daily quota.

One key can be reused on several Easy YouTube Feed modules on the same site.

Channel

Paste a channel ID (UC...), @handle, username, or full YouTube channel URL. Used when no playlist ID is set.

Playlist ID

Optional. Paste a playlist ID or a URL containing list=. When set, the module shows that playlist instead of channel uploads.

Count

How many videos to show on first load (1 to 50). Load more, pages, and infinite scroll fetch additional batches via YouTube page tokens.

Shorts mode

• All videos: include Shorts in channel feeds
• Exclude Shorts: hide vertical Shorts from grid layouts
• Shorts only: use with the Shorts layout for a vertical gallery

Visit channel

Optional profile card or button with data from YouTube. Set a custom Visit channel URL if the auto-built link is not enough.

Grid

Default news-home layout. Responsive columns, even gap, optional equal card heights. Lightbox or YouTube click mode.

Featured

Large lead card for the newest video plus a supporting grid. Toggle the lead card and set lead height.

Slider

Horizontal carousel with previous and next controls. Good for narrow rows and sidebars.

List

Stacked rows, mini grid, or horizontal scroll. Optional lead story on stack layout.

Shorts

Vertical aspect cards for Shorts-only feeds.

Shared layout options

• Columns for desktop, tablet, and mobile
• Gap, corner style, card style, shadow, hover lift
• Show title, duration, and publish date
• Intro and footer HTML

Search

Enable search on grid, featured, list, and Shorts layouts. Typing filters visible cards instantly. After a short pause, the module can query YouTube for deeper results.

Playlist filter

When a channel is set and no fixed playlist ID is used, visitors can pick from channel playlists (uploads plus public playlists).

Sort

Newest, oldest, title A to Z or Z to A, duration, or playlist order. Client-side sort applies to loaded cards; playlist order may reload from the server.

Filter toggle

• Always visible: show playlist and sort controls in the toolbar
• Toggle button: compact toolbar with a Filters button (icon, text, or both)

When feed tabs are enabled, the playlist dropdown is replaced by the Playlists tab.

Feed tabs

On channel feeds, enable tabs for Latest Videos, Popular, and Playlists. Tabs switch content via Ajax without a full page reload. Requires a channel source.

Channel profile card

Pulls avatar, channel name, subscriber count, video count, and a short description from YouTube.

Channel link style

• Profile card: rich card with stats and description
• Button: compact Visit channel link

Channel card position

Top, bottom, left, or right relative to the feed. Left and right use a side-by-side shell on desktop and stack on small screens.

Modes

• Off: show only the initial count
• Load more: append the next page on button click
• Previous / Next: replace the grid with the next or previous page
• Infinite scroll: load more automatically near the end of the list

Load more count

Set how many videos each batch adds. 0 uses the same value as Count.

Load more animation

Jumping dots, spinner, pulsing dots, or progress bar while the next page loads.

Reliability

The module tracks YouTube page tokens and video IDs so load more does not duplicate or drop cards. Search pauses pagination until cleared.

Click mode

• Lightbox: youtube-nocookie embed with keyboard arrows and swipe on touch devices
• YouTube: open each video on YouTube in a new tab

Theme and colours

• Light, dark, or inherit site theme
• Accent, surface, text, and muted colour tokens
• Text align left, center, or right
• Direction inherit, LTR, or RTL

Cards

• Corner styles: squared, slight, rounded, soft, pill
• Card styles: elevated, outlined, flat, flush
• Shadow: none, soft, medium
• Hover lift amount

• No videos or API error

  • Confirm the API key is pasted, YouTube Data API v3 is enabled, and the key is restricted by server IP (not referrer). Check channel handle or playlist ID.

• Referrer restriction error

  • PHP sends an empty Referer. Switch the key to IP restriction in Google Cloud Console.

• Quota exceeded

  • Raise API cache minutes. Reduce module count or pagination frequency on high-traffic pages.

• Load more stops or duplicates

  • Clear Joomla cache and hard-refresh. Search and pagination pause each other until search is cleared.

• Styles look wrong

  • Hard-refresh (Ctrl+F5). Check template CSS conflicts. Try module class suffix or adjust accent colours.

• Language keys show as MOD_EASYYOUTUBEFEED_*

  • Reinstall the zip so language files copy to language/en-GB/. Clear cache.

• What file do I install?
