What is Easy Cookie Alert 3.x?

Easy Cookie Alert is a modern cookie consent module for Joomla 4, 5, and 6.

It shows Accept all, Reject all, and category preferences, then runs only the scripts the visitor allowed. Built with vanilla JS (no jQuery).

Which layouts and themes are available?

Layouts: Bar Top, Bar Bottom, Floating card, Modal, and Overlay.

Themes: Dark, Light, Soft, and Brand, plus accent colour and corner radius.

Does it support Google Consent Mode v2?

Yes. When enabled, consent defaults to denied in the page head before tags run, then updates after the visitor chooses.

You can configure wait_for_update, ads data redaction, and optional URL passthrough.

Can visitors manage cookie categories?

Yes. Necessary is always on. You can enable Analytics, Marketing, and Functional, edit their labels, and add custom categories.

Each category can have its own script that runs only when allowed.

How do I block YouTube or Maps until consent?

Turn on Block embeds under Scripts. Matching iframes stay frozen until the chosen category is allowed.

Visitors see a Cookie settings placeholder and can open preferences to allow the category.

What is the consent proof log?

When enabled, each choice can store an anonymised receipt in the database with a local receipt id.

Use this as supporting evidence of when consent was given or updated.

Does it support CCPA / CPRA Do Not Sell?

Yes. Enable CCPA under Content to show a Do Not Sell or Share link and a preferences toggle.

The choice is stored with consent and can update Consent Mode advertising signals.

How do I re-prompt visitors after a policy change?

Yes. Buttons stack on small screens, floating and bar layouts go full width, and safe-area insets are respected.

Where should I publish the module?

Any template position works. Debug is a convenient default. Hide the module title.

The UI portals to the document body so it never flashes inside the module position.

Does it still need jQuery?

No. Version 3.x is vanilla JS and CSS only.

You do not need jQuery include options from older releases.

How do I handle multilingual sites?

Create one Easy Cookie Alert module per language and assign it with Joomla’s language filter.

That keeps copy, privacy links, and scripts aligned with each language version of the site.
