Which Joomla versions does Easy Table of Contents support?

Easy Table of Contents 1.0 supports Joomla 4, 5, and 6 with a service provider, namespaced helper, Web Asset Manager assets, and PHP 8.1 or later recommended.

What does Easy Table of Contents do?

It builds a navigable table of contents from article headings. Visitors jump to sections with optional smooth scroll, scroll-spy highlighting, sticky orientation, layouts, and themes.

Does it work without shortcodes?

Yes. With Auto Insert enabled, the plugin adds a TOC when the article has enough headings at the configured levels. Use {easy_toc} or {toc} when you need a specific position or per-article overrides.

Which heading levels are included?

Configurable. The default range is H2 through H4. You can include any range from H1 to H6. Headings with the exclude class (default no-toc) are skipped.

What layouts and themes are available?

Layouts: List, Flat, Numbered, Compact, and Cards. Themes: Classic, Soft, Bold, Minimal, and Glass. Appearance colours, radius, and shadow still apply on every theme.

How does sticky mode work?

On desktop widths, Sticky keeps the TOC in view while the article scrolls. Version 1.0.1 pins reliably even on templates with overflow wrappers (for example Helix Ultimate). Sticky is off under 768px.

Why does a jump land under my sticky header?

Increase Scroll Offset to match your header height. Many sites use 80 to 120 pixels. Smooth scroll uses that offset when jumping to a section.

Can I show a TOC only on some categories?

Yes. Use Only Categories or Exclude Categories with comma-separated category IDs. The same pattern works for Only Articles and Exclude Articles.

Is Extra CSS safe?

Unsafe patterns such as script tags, expression(), javascript: URLs, and @import are stripped before output.

Does it require jQuery?

No. Version 1.0 uses native JavaScript and CSS with the Joomla Web Asset Manager.
