Rotate modules or articles
Choose Module Mode to render one random published site module from your pool, or Article Mode to surface filtered articles as a list, grid, or carousel.

Separate instances when needed
Publish as many Randomizer modules as you like. Use one for banner rotation and another for related reading on the same site.

Simple setup
Pick a mode, configure the pool or article filters, assign a position, and publish. No custom template code required.

Pool of site modules
Add banners, CTAs, testimonials, or any published site module to the Select Modules list. One candidate is shown per page load.

Safer picking in 1.5
Only published, accessible, in-window modules matching the visitor language are used. Randomizer never includes itself.

Fail soft
If a selected module is unpublished or inaccessible, Randomizer tries another from the pool instead of breaking the page.

Target the right stories
Filter by categories, tags, featured-only, and comma-separated exclude IDs. Show 1 to 20 articles at a time.

Exclude current article
On article pages, keep the page you are reading out of the random results by default.

Respect Joomla rules
Published state, publish dates, access levels, and language filters are applied on every query.

Default list
Stacked articles with title, image position controls, intro or full text, and read more.

Grid layout
Responsive Bootstrap columns with 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 cards across.

Carousel
Bootstrap 5 carousel with optional indicators, controls, captions, and interval timing.

Show what matters
Toggle title, image, article text, and read more. Set title length, header tag, and custom read more wording.

Image placement
In the default list, place the intro image above the title, below the title, or below the content.

Link behaviour
Optionally open article links in a new window with noopener safety attributes.

Order your way
Choose random, newest date, most hits, or alphabetical title ordering for article results.

Cache when it helps
Enable caching for non-random orders to reduce repeated queries. Random order always stays fresh.

Configurable lifetime
Set cache time in minutes from the Advanced tab.

Clearer markup
Article layouts use semantic structure, labelled carousel controls, and visible focus styles.

Reduced motion
Grid reveal animation respects prefers-reduced-motion so quieter browsing stays calm.

Lazy images
Intro images load with lazy loading attributes where supported.

Marketing rotation
Cycle promo modules in a sidebar or footer without editing the template each week.

Related reading
Show random articles from matching categories or tags beside the current story.

Homepage variety
Keep featured content feeling fresh with a small random grid or carousel strip.

Joomla 4 / 5 / 6 architecture
Randomizer 1.5 uses a service provider, module dispatcher, namespaced helper and fields, and Web Asset Manager versioned assets.

Cleaner package
Language files ship inside the module. Legacy admin helpers and old field paths are removed.

No jQuery dependency
Core behaviour uses native JavaScript and Joomla Bootstrap assets when the carousel is enabled.

One zip
Install mod_randomizer_1.5.0.zip from System > Install > Extensions.

Quick configuration
Create a site module, choose Mode, set the pool or article filters, assign menus, and publish.
