FAQ

Questions about jQuery Thumbnail Scroller

Still unsure? Our support team is one ticket away.

Does version 1.7 still require jQuery?

No. The product name is retained for marketplace continuity, but version 1.7 uses native JavaScript and does not load jQuery, jQuery UI, an easing plugin, or Fancybox.

Which Joomla versions are supported?

Joomla 4, Joomla 5, and Joomla 6. PHP 8.1 or newer is recommended.

Can I load every image from a folder?

Yes. Select From Folder, enter a path such as images/portfolio, then choose sorting and an optional image limit.

Can each image have its own caption and alt text?

Yes. Select Custom Items to set the image, optional thumbnail, title, caption, alternative text, and link for every item.

What layouts are included?

Clean Strip, Caption Cards, Filmstrip, and Editorial. Each works with Light, Dark, Soft Sand, Ink, and Forest themes.

Does it support vertical galleries?

Yes. Set Orientation to Vertical. Arrow keys switch to Up/Down automatically and wheel/drag movement follows the vertical axis.

Is a separate lightbox plugin needed?

No. Version 1.7 includes an accessible lightbox with Zoom, Fade, Slide Up, or no opening effect. Captions and an optional download button are configurable.

What happens to old module settings after upgrading?

The old folder path, thumbnail height, and autoplay state are remapped. Obsolete jQuery easing, acceleration, and Fancybox settings are removed. Open and save the module after upgrading to review the new options.

How does the module handle accessibility?

It includes labelled controls, visible focus states, keyboard navigation, an accessible modal dialog with focus trapping, Escape close, meaningful alt text support, and reduced-motion handling.
