Introduction
Store Locator Pro 3.0.1 is a Google Maps store, dealer, and office locator for Joomla 4, 5, and 6.
Important: this product is a JoomlaX-maintained fork of Sysgen Media Store Locator 2.6. It keeps the same com_storelocator element and familiar Locations / Categories / Tags / Markers workflow, rebuilt for modern Joomla.
What you can do
- Publish a searchable Google Map from a menu item (Responsive or Classic layout)
- Manage locations with address, phone, email, website, social links, featured flag, category, tags, and custom markers
- Filter by radius, category, tags, and featured
- Import and export CSV, batch-geocode missing coordinates, and review the Search Log
- Use 91 seeded Google micons from the Markers catalog
How it differs from Easy Store Locator
Easy Store Locator is a separate JoomlaX package (com_easystorelocator + module) with Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. Store Locator Pro is the Sysgen-compatible component fork focused on Google Maps and classic or responsive component layouts.

Fork and upgrade
What "fork" means here
Store Locator Pro continues the Sysgen Store Locator product line under JoomlaX maintenance. Buyers should know:
- Extension element remains
com_storelocator
- Admin structure matches Sysgen (Locations, Categories, Tags, Markers, Import / Export, Batch Geocoding, Search Log)
- UI and CSS are updated for Joomla 4 / 5 / 6 and Helix / Bootstrap 5 templates
- Sysgen copyright / vendor link options are removed
Safe upgrade checklist
- Full backup
- Joomla already on 4.4+
- Install
pkg_storelocator_3.0.1.zip
- Re-check Google API key and map menu layouts
- Clear cache and hard-refresh the front end
Locations
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Locations.
List tools
- New: create a location
- Publish / Unpublish / Delete: manage selected rows
- Search and filters: find stores by name or status
Each row is one pin on the map. Featured locations can be filtered on the front end.
Edit location
Click a location or New. Fill the Details form.
Core fields
- Name and Address (required for geocoding)
- Calculate Coordinates: fills Latitude / Longitude from the address (needs Geocoding API)
- Coordinate Mode: auto from address, or manual lat / lon entry
- Categories and Tags
- Featured yes / no
- Description, phone, website, Facebook, Twitter / X, email
- Custom fields for hours or extra notes
- Status, Access, publish dates
Save & Close when finished. Unpublished locations do not appear on the public map.
Categories
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Categories.
Categories group stores (for example Flagship, Outlet, Partner). On the front end they appear as a dropdown or checkboxes, depending on the menu layout and Options.
- Click New
- Enter a name and optional marker preference
- Publish and Save
- Assign the category on each Location
Tags
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Tags.
Tags are reusable labels (city names, Retail, Demo, and so on). Assign one or more tags on the location form. Front-end filters can show tags as a dropdown or checkboxes.
In Options, Marker Icon Preference can prefer Tags or Categories when choosing which icon to draw.
Markers
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Markers.
A fresh install seeds 91 Google micons. You can:
- Browse the catalog and publish / unpublish icons
- Add your own marker image
- Assign markers through categories, tags, or location settings
If markers look missing after an upgrade from an older incomplete install, re-run the 3.0.1 SQL update or reinstall so the catalog is restored.
Import / Export
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Import / Export.
Export
Download every location as CSV for backup or spreadsheet edits. Export ignores Locations list pagination so you get the full catalog.
Import
- Prepare a CSV matching the expected columns
- Upload the file on this screen
- Review new or updated locations in the Locations list
- Use Batch Geocoding if addresses still lack coordinates
Batch Geocoding
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Batch Geocoding.
This tool finds locations without coordinates and fills Latitude / Longitude from their addresses using Google Geocoding.
- Confirm your API key has Geocoding API enabled
- Open Batch Geocoding and review the pending count
- Process locations in batches
- Open a few locations to verify lat / lon look correct
Search Log
Open Components > Store Locator Pro > Search Log.
When logging is enabled in Options, front-end searches are stored here so you can see what visitors type and which queries return results.
- Use filters to find a date range or term
- Clear old rows when the log grows large
Options
Open Options from the component toolbar or System > Global Configuration > Store Locator Pro.
Basic
- Units (Miles / Kilometers)
- Show Locations on Load (Yes / No / Featured)
- Marker Icon Preference (Tags or Categories)
