The form asks for an email address and a consent checkbox. It's protected by:

• a hidden honeypot field
• a minimum fill time of 2 seconds
• Joomla's form token
• the hourly per-IP limit (IP addresses are stored only as hashes)

If someone signs up again with an email that's already on the list, they see the same thank-you message. The email is stored only once, no second auto-reply is sent, and the attempt still counts toward the per-IP hourly signup limit.

Auto-replies go through Joomla's own mailer (Global Configuration → Server → Mail). If sending fails, the signup is still saved and the error is logged.
