Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common Revealing Photo Slider problems.

• Nothing appears

  • Check Published, Position, and Menu Assignment. Confirm at least one slide has an image. An empty source renders nothing on purpose.

• Only the first image shows, with no arrows or dots

  • The JavaScript did not load. Confirm media/mod_revealing_photo_slider/js/revealing-photo-slider.min.js exists, clear Joomla cache, and hard-refresh. Check the browser console for errors from other scripts.

• Hidden slides show blank images

  • A lazy loading plugin replaced the image source. Exclude .rps__img from that plugin.

• Folder source is empty

  • Pick a folder under images/ that contains JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or AVIF files. Other file types are ignored.

• Article source is empty

  • The category needs published articles with intro images. Articles without an intro image are skipped.

• Autoplay never starts

  • Check Autoplay is Yes. If the visitor has reduced motion turned on in the operating system, autoplay stays off on purpose.

• Caption font or heading style looks wrong

  • Set Font to Template font or System font. Template heading rules can be overridden with .rps .rps__title.

• Old look after a change

  • Save the module, clear Joomla cache, then Ctrl+F5.
